OUR WHY
Jokom Kreations exists to share the beauty of Mi’kmaw culture and the natural world.
There is pride and wisdom in creating apparel that tells a story. At Jokom Kreations we know that stories can empower people and create change which is what we aim to do with every product we make.
We do our best to create trends people can rely on and confidently wear. Our collections come with a unique featured story about the land because we want everyone to be familiar with Nature’s story from a perspective that is not always heard. We encourage you to share those stories to help create change in the lives of all living things.

How We Create
As an Indigenous-owned and woman operated business in Canada we are all about slow fashion and supporting small businesses to reduce our impact on the environment. As an outdoor apparel company, we make sure our products are high-quality and built to last, so there’s less waste. We work with local artisans and small businesses in Canada and the USA, which means each piece is made with care and supports nearby communities. When possible we prioritize natural and recycled materials to support our environmentally-conscious mindset. Through these efforts, Jokom Kreations fosters a more responsible and ethical fashion ecosystem.
Seed Paper Tags
When you purchase our products, our tags are completely biodegradable and made from post-consumer and post-industrial paper waste. They also have wildflower seeds embedded in them that can be gifted back to Mother Nature. All you have to do is plant it!
How It Works
Plant seed paper under 1/8″ of soil. Water thoroughly. Place in a sunny corner and keep moist during germination. Be careful not to overwater once sprouts appear! The seed paper can be planted indoors or outdoors in the right temperature and conditions – choose wisely.
Meet the Artisan
My name is Kendra Barberstock (Paul) and I’m the proud owner of Jokom Kreations. As a Mi’kmaw woman from Sipekne’katik First Nation, my work reflects my cultural upbringing and is inspired by nature.
I began my artisan journey at a young age, being first introduced to the intricacy of beadwork art that naturally turned into a passion for culturally inspired design, which flowed into artistic mediums that include sewing, painting, knitting, and other forms of contemporary art. I love the visual arts and the feeling of connecting people to the land and helping them see the creator’s grand tapestry through an artistic lens.
I hope that Jokom Kreations can bring people from different walks of life together with a common goal to share the stories of the land. Thank you for your support!
